For third consecutive year, Toyota wins Vincentric Best Value in Canada award and named Best Hybrid Brand in Canada

Nine Toyota vehicles also segment winners

TORONTO, ON., (September 9, 2014) — For the past three years, Vincentric has presented "Best Value in Canada" awards for automotive brands and their vehicles.

Each time, Toyota has been named the top passenger vehicle brand in this country, as well as the best hybrid brand.

"Our thanks to Vincentric for awards that help consumers understand the value engineered into vehicles," said Seiji Ichii, President & CEO, Toyota Canada Inc. "We are pleased that Toyota is recognized across its lineup — including conventional and hybrid powertrains."

In addition to the overall brand awards, nine vehicles came in first place in their respective categories, including seven models that were repeat winners.

The winning Toyota vehicles for 2014 include:

  • Toyota Prius c — Compact Hybrid (first-time winner)
  • Toyota Avalon — Large Sedan (third consecutive year)
  • Toyota Highlander — Mid-Size Crossover (first-time winner)
  • Toyota Highlander Hybrid — Crossover Hybrid (third consecutive year)
  • Toyota 4Runner — Mid-Size SUV (third consecutive year)
  • Toyota Sequoia — Large SUV (third consecutive year)
  • Toyota Tacoma — Compact Pickup (third consecutive year)
  • Lexus ES 300h — Premium Mid-Size Hybrid (second consecutive year)
  • Scion iQ — Micro (second consecutive year)

To determine the 2014 Vincentric Best Value in Canada awards, Vincentric analyzed over 1,800 vehicle configurations measuring cost-of-ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in Canada winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces plus the Northwest Territories using a range of annual kilometre intervals and insurance profiles.
