Vancouver Kid Wins Global Design Contest

Aug 29, 2019

(VANCOUVER, ON – August 29, 2019)- Thirteen-year old Vancouver resident, Vickie Wang, has been awarded for her imaginative design. Her vision of the future of mobility was chosen from over 900,000 submissions from around the world, as a winner of the annual Toyota Global Dream Car Art contest.

Wang’s dream car, “Time Traveler”, is a car built on clockwork wheels and capable of rewinding time to allow its passengers to travel the past, present and future. Wang imagined that her vehicle would be able to help educate people about the past and experience historical milestones.

“I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Toyota Dream Car Art contest,” commented Wang. “I believe that this experience will allow me to learn and grow to be a better artist."

Both of Wang’s parents are accompanying her on the trip to Japan where they attended the awards ceremony. At the ceremony, Wang was awarded with the top-level gold award.

The Toyota Dream Car Art contest is an opportunity for children to express themselves and think critically about what the future of vehicle technology could look like by designing imaginative solutions for the future of mobility.

The Dream Car Art contest first takes place on a national level in participating countries. The winners of the national competitions are then submitted to compete in the world contest. An expertly curated panel of judges then evaluates each submission and selects the global winners for each age category.
