Compare the Toyota RAV4 against the CR-V

Apr 09, 2019

So, you’re shopping for a compact SUV? Looking for a vehicle that is going to enable you to do everything that you love to do? Well you’re in the right place. Take a look at the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited and compare it to its closest competitor, the 2019 CR-V Touring.

Watch the video below to learn more about the RAV4 Limited:

RAV4 Interior

On the road, heading to your next adventure, you want to feel comfortable, right?

The RAV4’s refined interior is spacious and premium, with a harmonious layout and accommodating features. Drive comfortably with the available 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, available driver seat memory and available front and rear heated seats.

But this drive isn’t just comfortable. With the available JBL audio system with 11 speakers, the RAV4’s multimedia setup will not leave you wanting.

The 2019 RAV4 is also equipped with the latest entertainment technology to make your drive more enjoyable.

The RAV4 is compatible with Apple CarPlay™, which means you can use your iPhone via the display touchscreen when you connect your device through the data-enabled USB port. Using Siri® voice commands, you can send texts, cue up your favourite playlist and more – all while keeping your eyes and attention on the road ahead.

The RAV4 also has a host of smart technologies available, including Safety Connect® and Destination Assist®, which can help provide you with peace of mind and keep you connected to the people, places and things that matter most to you.

If you're phone is running low on power and you have the latest smartphone that supports wireless charging, you can always give it a boost with Qi Wireless Charging tray, positioned at the front of the centre console.

You also want to throw your gear in the back, right? Well, you’ve got lots of versatility with both vehicles. Open up the rear door and, if you need more space, just flip down the 60/40 split backseats. The seats can even fold to be flat, for even more room and to make it easier to load in awkwardly-shaped cargo.

RAV4 Engine, Horsepower & Fuel Efficiency

Powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, the all-new RAV4 engine outputs 203 horsepower. The CR-V has a smaller 1.5L engine that delivers 190 horsepower. The CR-V has a continuously variable transmission, while the RAV4 engine is paired to a direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission, which delivers sportier acceleration and a smoother, more responsive drive.

With RAV4, you also have the option of Hybrid models – not available on CR-V. The RAV4 Hybrid AWD Limited offers all the features of the RAV4 Limited, but adds a few additional features such as additional Towing Capacity (1,750 lbs vs. 1,500 lbs), and 5.8/6.3/6.0 L/100km (City/Hwy/Combined)* – to get you to some beautiful locations using even less fuel than the RAV4 Limited. And, although most Toyota Hybrid owners never need to replace their Hybrid battery within their ownership lifetime, the 8 year/160,000 Hybrid Component warranty offers that little bit extra peace of mind. *

RAV4 Pre-Collision System

Every 2019 RAV4 is equipped with Toyota Safety SenseTM 2.0.

TSS 2.0 is designed to help protect drivers, passengers, people in other vehicles on the road, and pedestrians. With all new active-safety technologies and capabilities, TSS 2.0 is designed to support the driver's awareness, decision-making and vehicle operation over a wide range of speeds under certain conditions.

Packaged together in an integrated system, TSS 2.0 features help address three key areas of accident protection: mitigating or preventing frontal collisions, helping to keep drivers within their lane, and enhancing road safety during nighttime driving.

The 4 key systems of TSS are:

Pre-Collision Safety System with daytime Cyclist Detection and enhanced low light Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/CD and PD) - Provides collision avoidance or collision mitigation support in speed ranges where frontal collisions are likely to occur. In certain conditions, the PCS w/PD may also help to detect bicycles in daytime situations, as well as vehicles or pedestrians in both daytime and low-light situations -helping to prevent or mitigate a collision.

Automatic High Beam (AHB) - Designed to detect oncoming and preceding vehicles’ lights and depending upon the circumstances, AHB can switch between high and low beams for you.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 Automatic High Beams

Full Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control - Using forward sensing radar technology, the system can automatically adjust vehicle speed to help maintain a pre-set following distance between you and the vehicle directly in front of you. The updated feature allows low-speed following, speed matching, stopping and acceleration/deceleration to a preceding vehicle as well.

Lane Tracing Assist – Helps to keep your vehicle centred in visibly marked lanes and to avoid unintended lane departures. Remember that in order to activate this feature, you’ll have to turn on your Dynamic Radar Cruise Control first.

Always drive safely, obey traffic speed limits and laws, and focus on the road while driving. **

While the CR-V has many of these features too, most noticeably, it doesn’t have Pre-Collision Detection systems for pedestrians in low-light situations or bicycles. The RAV4 also has features that keep you safe while you park, that the CR-V doesn’t. These include parking sensors and a rear cross-traffic automatic braking system, and the Bird’s Eye View Monitor which gives you a 360-degree view of your surroundings, to help you see your surroundings more clearly.
