Introducing the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra – The New Definition of Grit

Jun 24, 2022

At Toyota, grit is more than just dirt roads and muddy tires. Grit is about evolving the way we do things.

The all-new 2022 Tundra has been redesigned from the ground up to offer improved performance, with a choice of powerful, efficient engines and impressive towing and payload capacity. It also offers premium refinements, a chiseled design and all the tech you need to get you to your destination in comfort and style.

The all-new 2022 Tundra. The new definition of grit.

Style: Strength Inside and Out

Toughness and capability play key roles in the Toyota Tundra redesign. This upgraded truck design includes an interior and exterior combination of angular lines and sophisticated refinement.

Outdoor lifestyle, recreation and utility were top of mind in the styling of this truck, as seen in it’s chiseled, athletic and muscular aesthetic. Made to withstand tough terrain and elements, the exterior reflects its purpose. The Tundra boasts peak performance with a strong, fully boxed steel-ladder frame built for rigidity and cruise comfort, an aluminum-reinforced rust and dent resistant composite bed (options include 5.5, 6.5 or 8.1-foot bed) and available hydraulic cab mounts.

Strength extends to the underside of your Tundra, especially with Off-Road and TRD Pro packages. The transfer case is a valuable part of the drivetrain that allows 2WD and 4WD. Protect your Tundra with underbody projection to the transfer case and fuel tank available on the above packages. Never miss a moment with available Power Extendable/Folding Towing Mirrors available on 4X4 CrewMax Platinum grades which increase your rearward field of view.

Standing out from other trucks on the market, the Tundra’s spacious interior elevates your journey with ambient lighting, the all available on select models. Available only on the Capstone model, Authentic Wood Trim is another stylish interior option.

The 2022 Tundra also offers many interior upgrades depending on the model grade. Premium materials are used throughout, most visibly in high-contact areas as seen with its wrapped armrests and pads across the instrument panel. Upgrade to Capstone and warm up with a heated leather wrapped steering wheel as well as ventilated and heated leather front and rear seats decked out in luxurious semi-aniline leather.

Power and Performance: An Absolute Powerhouse

Rougher environments don’t scare this vehicle. Drive through them in ease with its exceptional powertrain and 4WD.

When it comes to driving the Toyota Tundra, you need to feel it to believe it. A new highly powerful, highly efficient twin-turbo 3.5 litre i-FORCE V6 engine produces up to 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This 10-speed automatic transmission gives you incredible power on-and-off the road. Across gas grade levels, enjoy a combined fuel efficiency of 12.2L/100km.[¹]

And it doesn’t stop there! When the engine is paired with the available motor system – the i-FORCE MAX 3.5-Litre TwinTurbo V6 hybrid powertrain reaches a whole new level of performance. This system combines the traditional truck strength and drive-feel of a gas powertrain, with the efficiency and added power of the hybrid battery, producing incredible amounts of torque – 583 lb-ft – and 437 horsepower. Accelerate at high speeds with ease and feel the strength of the combined engine and battery off the line as this vehicle gives you that pinned in your seat feeling. All the capability and performance, with zero compromise.

If you are an adventure-ready, go-anywhere person, upgrade your experience with packages like TRD Off-Road and the TRD Sport. What is most exciting is that certain models come with unique options, for example, the TRD Off Road grade includes 18" Off Alloy Wheels, Multi-Terrain Select, TRD Front Grille, TRD Off Road Shocks and Locking Rear Differential. The TRD Sports package comes loaded with 20” Sport Alloy Wheels, TRD Sport Tuned shocks, Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking and more.

The Tundra’s impressive available 14” multimedia screen offers crisp graphics and clear visuals. Display multiple exterior views from newly added cameras, including a Panoramic View Monitor on select grades which displays a top-down view of the truck. Thanks to the increased processing power, the touchscreen response is akin to a smartphone: you can even pinch-to-zoom on your map in Cloud Navigation. For ease of use, the system still retains a physical volume knob for quick adjustments.

The new upgraded technology is not only for fun and entertainment. Toyota Connected Services[⁹] offer peace of mind and convenience to its owners. All 2022 Tundra models receive complimentary trials of Remote Connect (3-year trial), Safety Connect (3-year trial) and Service Connect (up to 5-year trial).

The new Cloud Navigation system features a user-friendly design and is powered by Google POI (points of interest) data for most up-to-date points of interest on your map and, thanks to real-time traffic support, the system can dynamically suggest faster route alternatives based on the current road conditions. Cloud Navigation integrates seamlessly with Intelligent Assistant so you can use natural voice commands, like “Hey Toyota, find a restaurant along my route”, to plot your route, find points of interest or even check opening hours and star ratings of a business.
