How We’re Supporting Our Communities

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt and affect our lives, Toyota (Toyota Canada, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Toyota Financial Services) is continuing to support our communities across the country. Toyota Motor North America also continues to assist those in need with essential supplies and emergency relief in communities across North America.

Here are a few examples of what we’ve already done – and what we’re working on – to support Canadian communities as they respond to this pandemic.

Learn about our ongoing support for community programs, projects and initiatives.

  • Toyota Canada, in partnership with Toyota dealers across the country, launched Toyota Cars For GoodTM as part of our continuing efforts to support our local communities. Participating dealerships are assisting eligible local charitable organizations with free vehicle loans or other supplementary delivery services, to help them more effectively carry out their own work within the community.

  • Toyota Canada, its dealers and employees have already donated more than $1 million to food banks in communities across Canada.

Toyota Canada matched the donations made by our dealers and employees to local COVID-19 response initiatives for a total of over $1 million. Many of our dealers across Canada focused their support on food security – donating to local food banks and other community food programs - and we supported them by matching their donations.

Toyota Canada, Toyota Financial Services and its employees have also pledged to provide additional funding to local food banks across the country during the 2020 holiday season.

$1M to Support Canadian Blood Services & Héma-Québec

For the past several years, Toyota Canada has partnered with Canadian Blood Services and Héma-Québec to support and improve the efficiency of Canada’s blood supply.

Today, tomorrow, next week and next month the need for blood is constant. In response, Toyota has expanded its existing partnership with Canadian Blood Services by donating more than $1 million worth of Toyota and Lexus advertising to communicate the ongoing need for donations of blood and blood products.

Our Toyota and Lexus dealers are also supporting Canadian Blood Services in their communities by supporting local blood donor clinics, as well as offering their communications channels and other support.

We encourage everyone to visit Canadian Blood Services or Hema-Quebec to see if they are eligible to donate, and if so, book an appointment today.

  • In response to COVID-19, TMMC has made a number of monetary and in-kind donations. Along with significant annual donations made to community organizations, this includes:

    • TMMC donated $75,000 to three local food banks and loaned a forklift to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. TMMC also made $5,000 donations to five local shelters.
    • Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) has donated approximately 1,000 NIOSH-certified N95 masks, 8,000 surgical masks, as well as gloves, protective eyewear and sanitary boot protectors, to the local hospitals and long-term care homes.
    • TMMC employees collaborated with Fanshawe College faculty to design a low-cost, easy-to-use medical ventilator for patients fighting COVID-19. They were named finalists in a global ventilator design competition.
    • TMMC employees partnered with local companies to develop a prototype device that uses UV technology to disinfect objects, later donating it to the University of Waterloo for further research.
