It’s easy to pair your phone or music player to the head unit by referring to the
"Know Your Toyota: Pairing a Phone" video, or consult your vehicle's Owner's
Manual.
If a connectivity issue arises, some of the following examples may provide a
resolution.
[An animation shows how to verify that Bluetooth power is turned on.]
Once the device has been paired and the engine is turned on or is in accessory
mode, the system will automatically search and connect with the nearest
registered device.
If the device will not connect automatically, Bluetooth power may be turned off.
Select the "Apps” button, Setup, Bluetooth, System Settings, and verify Bluetooth
power is turned on.
If a Bluetooth connection cannot be made, even when your device is compatible,
this may be because you already have another Bluetooth device connected. Only
one device can be connected via Bluetooth at a given time.
[An animation shows how to turn on the automatic contact transfer
function.]
Phone data may also fail to transfer if the automatic contact transfer function of
the audio system is set to “off.” To turn it on, select the "Apps" button, Setup,
Phone, "Contact/Call History Settings" and select "Automatic Transfer.”
[A caption reads: “Enable “message transfer” on the phone.”]
If messages cannot be viewed, it could mean that “message transfer” has to be
enabled on the phone.
[A phone sits near the audio system’s head unit.]
For certain devices, it is necessary to place the phone as close as possible to the
audio system's head unit, and avoid placing it in places such as the centre
console and glove box.
[A caption reads: “Examples of cell phone reset procedure:
-Turning off the phone
-Removing and reinstalling the battery (if possible)”
If an issue continues to arise, it may be necessary to follow the "reset" procedure
for that particular device, such as turning off the phone, removing, and
reinstalling the battery.]
[A caption reads: “Features and functions that may not be
compatible with your head unit:
-Support of hands-free calling
-SMS messaging
-Audio streaming”]
Due to the large number of cell phone makes and models, there may be features
and functions of the head unit which may not be compatible with your particular
cellular phone, including support of hands-free calling, sms messaging, and
audio streaming.
