Battery Preconditioning is designed to help optimize the battery’s temperature for more efficient DC fast charging by warming or cooling the battery to its ideal temperature range. This feature will reduce the vehicle’s range due to additional energy use and may not be available when the battery’s state of charge is low. May be activated manually, or via an active (paid or trial) subscription to Toyota Drive Connect (subject to availability of 4G network) by selecting a DC charging station destination in the vehicle’s navigation system.
