TORONTO, Ontario (October 2nd, 2023) – The Prius needs no introduction: As the world’s first mass production hybrid car, its legendary success made Prius a global ambassador for sustainable mobility. As Toyota strives to move Beyond Zero for carbon emissions – to make a net positive impact on the planet and societies – the 2024 Toyota Prius continues to inspire, with a sporty, spirited, intelligent, and efficient design that’s quintessentially Prius.

“Today’s Prius combines accessible electrification with Toyota’s innovative electric all-wheel-drive system, making it ideal for the realities of travelling across Canada in any weather,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s the perfect choice for Canadians looking to combine the style and driving fun of a well-engineered car with the efficiency of Toyota’s industry-leading self-charging hybrid electric expertise, and the intelligence of our advanced connectivity and active safety technologies.”

The 2024 Prius features an athletic silhouette and a clean, modern design that excites. Sleek and progressive, the Prius is poised to pounce, with a low stance that merges dynamic style with impressive efficiency. The driving position feels nimble yet comfortable, with no compromise between fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance. The Prius features a piercing profile that evokes a level of aerodynamic flair, with a low roofline and rear flares that create a futuristic look.

Open the doors, and the Prius invites up to five adults into a high-tech cabin, complemented by soft-touch materials and smart design like controls and gauges set within easy reach and sightline. The 60/40 split folding rear seat opens up a world of cargo-carrying capabilities, while the hybrid system’s battery is optimized so it doesn’t interfere with luggage capacity.

Under the hood, the Prius features a 5th generation hybrid powertrain built around a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder engine, motor-generator system, and electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This delivers 196 system horsepower and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds. The electronic on-demand AWD system – standard on all models – uses a motor to drive the rear wheels. This contributes to driving stability under a range of road and weather conditions, while contributing to efficiency. The Prius achieves an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 4.8L/100km city/highway combined.

The Prius puts intuitive technology at one’s fingertips – and voice. Every model features the Toyota Multimedia system – a bundle of start connectivity technologies that keeps drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. The system integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens.

Every Prius also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – the newest configuration of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.

Toyota Canada offers the Prius in two distinct grades, as follows:

The 2024 Toyota Prius XLE AWD introduces Canadians to the legendary Prius experience. This model features Toyota Multimedia with Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, and an 8” touchscreen display, a six-speaker Toyota Display Audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto compatibility, 19” alloys, Softex upholstery, heated front seats, and the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start.

The 2024 Toyota Prius Limited AWD enhances the XLE AWD configuration, adding an eight-speaker JBL Premium Audio system, Toyota Multimedia with Service Connect, Safety Connect, Remote Connect, Drive Connect and a 12.3” touchscreen display, glass roof, power hatch, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a digital key, a wireless charging system for compatible smart phones, the Panoramic View Monitor, and the Advanced Park system.
