Not all (highway) heroes wear capes. Whether it’s rockslides, disastrous weather or steep terrain, there’s no job that Jamie Davis, Highway Thru Hell star and owner of Jamie Davis Motor Truck, isn’t willing to take on. Tune in to Season 7 of Discovery’s hit TV series, airing now, where he tackles the toughest jobs on and off the Coquihalla Highway – with his tow truck, “Mighty Mo”, by his side.
We asked you to send us your questions for Jamie and he answered! Read on to learn more about how he keeps his team safe, what he loves about his job and why he drives a Toyota Tundra.
Q: At this time of your life and career, how do you ensure that you and your team stay safe?
A: The Toyota Tundra keeps my team safe in all kinds of weather, doing all kinds of jobs. It's not just the way it handles, Toyota Safety Sense™ (TSS) technology gives us a huge technical advantage in bad weather and good.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is helping people. I love to help out - whether it's the middle of the night or the weather is bad or someone’s stuck in a bad situation. It makes me feel good to be able to fly in with my tow truck and be the hero – at least for a short while. You can’t match that feeling!
Q: What made you choose the Toyota Tundra pick-up truck?
A: I choose to arm my staff with Toyota Tundra trucks, because they're reliable, durable, and they'll handle the worst of the worst when it comes to weather. They're exactly what I need in the mountains.
Q: Are you concerned that something might let go, when you are up on Mighty Mo? Is it dangerous to operate the controls on the tow rig?
A: Yes, it's a dangerous place – we call it the "Squirrel Cage", otherwise known as a fan blower motor cage. It’s definitely a concern that something might let go, but the only thing you can really do as a driver is make sure your lines are in good shape. It’s also important to keep your eyes and ears open and be on high alert.
