The gas engine also optimizes efficiency by using Variable Valve Timing.
This revamped hybrid system incorporates a brand new Lithium-Ion battery, which was designed to improve performance. However, more power doesn’t mean less space. The Lithium-Ion battery is still small enough to be hidden underneath the seats, so you don’t have to compromise on cargo or passenger space.
Plus, efficiency is at an all-time high with the all-new Venza, as it employs a variety of innovative technologies under the hood including: a fully variable oil pump, a variable cooling system, an electric water pump, and an electric thermostat.
So, how much horsepower can a hybrid have, exactly?
The hybrid powertrain seamlessly delivers 219 combined horsepower and, similar to our other hybrids, there’s greater torque.
Not only does the new hybrid system have greater engine efficiency, it also has exceptional fuel efficiency at 6.1L/100km.
However, this new hybrid system doesn’t just improve acceleration and fuel efficiency, it can also be beneficial when driving for long periods of time or up- and down-hill. The driver can downshift on the Venza by using the sequential shifting feature, improving regenerative braking and allowing drivers to have greater control. The Venza’s intelligent All-Wheel Drive also provides drivers with more vehicle control, particularly when turning, as the AWD allocates up to 80 percent of driving force to the rear wheels.
