When you’re in the market for a reliable and safe minivan, the Toyota Sienna offers so much more than you’d expect - including models ranging from sporty to luxurious.  Check out the video from our Toyota “Mom-pert” and then take a look at some more info on how the Sienna XLE AWD 7-passenger with Limited Package stacks up against its closest competitor.

Watch the video below to learn more:

2018 Toyota Sienna vs 2018 Odyssey

Sienna XLE AWD with Limited package offers three rows of comfort: Heated Premium Leather front captain’s chairs in rich beige or grey tones, reclining middle row captain’s chairs, and a one-touch 60/40 Split and Stow 3rd row.

When comparing interior room to Odyssey’s EX-L Navi model, Sienna offers 121 Litres more Passenger Volume, plus:

  • More Head room (Front/Rear)
  • More Hip room (Middle/3rd Row)
  • More Shoulder room (Front, Middle, 3rd Row)

Plus – as our Mom-pert told you, you can carry so many more bags in your Sienna – because it has 178 L More Cargo Volume (behind the front seats). Sienna also includes standard Roof Racks – an accessory offered on Odyssey at an additional cost of over $800.

Every 2018 Sienna is equipped with Toyota Entune.  The XLE with Limited Package includes Entune 3.0 Premium Audio, with Entune App Suite, a 3-year subscription to Entune Safety Connect, a 6-month subscription to Entune Destination Assist, and Embedded Navigation displayed on the 8” Touch Screen. It also includes Premium JBL Synthesis Audio with 10 speakers, Bluetooth Capability, Integrated SiriusXM Satellite Radio, SIRI Eyes-Free, Advanced Voice Recognition, and more.

Plus you’ll get the Dual Power Moonroof (what some refer to as the Panoramic Moonroof), a Rear Seat Dual View BluRay Entertainment System with a 16.4” Overhead Monitor to keep BOTH kids happy, and Birds Eye View Monitoring.

But the fun stuff doesn’t stop there.  Our Mom-pert is thrilled that she can save her “outside voice” for the soccer field, because Sienna XLE Limited features Easy Speak, allowing you to speak through the system from the front and be heard clearly in the back, through the audio system.  Yep - even back there in the 3rd row.

Engine, Horsepower & Fuel Efficiency

As our Mom-pert explained, the Toyota Sienna is the only minivan available in Canada with All Wheel Drive (AWD.)  Sienna’s AWD system features Active Torque Control, which powers the front wheels until slippage is detected, then automatically shifts into AWD mode to send torque to the rear wheels. This helps to optimize fuel consumption in everyday front-wheel driving, while adding power to the rear wheels only when needed to help provide additional traction and peace of mind.

In addition to the advantage of All Wheel Drive, Sienna XLE Limited has 296 Horsepower compared to Odyssey’s 280 hp, thanks in part to its Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) 3.5L V6 Engine.  Odyssey has a Single Overhead Cam (SOHC).

Safety & Convenience

Sienna XLE AWD with Limited Package is loaded with Safety and Convenience features that make it fun and easy for your family to enjoy carefree travel and adventure.

Every 2018 Sienna comes with Toyota Safety SenseTM P (TSS-P).  TSS includes active safety technology, focused around automated pre-collision warning and braking.  The integrated systems help address three key areas of accident protection: mitigating or preventing frontal collisions, helping to keep drivers within their lane, and enhancing road safety during nighttime driving.

Sienna’s TSS system, TSS-P, includes

Pre-collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD).  Odyssey’s doesn’t include Pedestrian Detection.

Sienna XLE AWD is also equipped with our Blind Spot Monitoring System (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).  Once activated, BSM will display a signal in the appropriate side mirror when another vehicle enters your blind spot.  Similarly, RCTA will signal a notification in the side mirror – and via an audio alarm within the vehicle – of cars crossing your path from the left or the right while you’re in reverse.   Odyssey EX-L Navi doesn’t offer this feature.

Plus, Sienna XLE with the Limited package has Front and Rear Parking Sonar which, when activated, alerts you if you’re getting close to hitting an object.

[Explore Sienna Safety Features]

Sienna XLE is equipped with 18” Run Flat Tires, designed to resist deflation after a puncture.  They can still be driven at reduced speeds in order for you to drive a short distance to safety.  Odyssey EX-L Navi isn’t equipped with Run Flat Tires.  Sienna XLE also comes with Wheel Locks, designed to prevent theft of your valuable rims and tires.  Wheel Locks aren’t standard on Odyssey – but you can get them as an accessory for additional cost.

[Explore Sienna’s Specifications]

A special edition of Toyota Sienna XLE AWD is also available for enhanced mobility.  These special edition Siennas can be adapted for improved accessibility with a Bruno Mobilty Power Lift-up Seat – to help passengers in and out of the rear Captain’s Chair - or with BraunAbility or VMI Ramp Conversions, for loading scooters and wheelchairs.  See your Toyota Dealer for more details.

Sienna Awards, Ratings & Reviews

Canadian Black Book evaluates vehicle transactions over 4 years and awards the vehicles that hold the greatest percentage value of their original MSRP.  Toyota Sienna is the winner of the 2018 Canadian Black Book Award for Best Retained Value, with CBB stating:

“Families continue to appreciate Sienna’s smooth and refined ride, versatility and reliability. The available AWD adds to the feeling of security when road conditions are not at their best. As expected in a minivan, the interior is roomy and comfortable. Fuel efficiency from the standard V6 is good without sacrificing performance.”

Everything

I have been buying Sienna AWD for at least 20 years and I love them! – Elizabeth P

Back to Minivans

I had a minivan when my kids were young and thought I was done when the car seats were no longer needed. Bought a Sequoia SUV and loved it. Recently, when it was time to trade in the Sequoia I checked out the new Sienna and how it fared for storage & passenger space. I was surprised that my teenagers actually have more leg room in the Sienna and I had not lost any storage space....so, I am back to the minivan! My family loves the quiet relaxing ride and I am finding it great to park & handle. – Joy M

I love my new Toyota.

I find it is easy to handle, has great gas mileage and is very comfortable. It is easy for me to get into and out of. There is lots of passenger and cargo space. And I will be able to carry my wheelchair or scooter whenever I want to take one of them with me. Thank you Toyota for building the right vehicle for me. – Joan D.

Easy to use features

As a new wheelchair user this van has brought a new independence to my life. The power doors make it easy to transfer into my seat and close the back door from inside, it's a great feature. I love my Toyota Sienna! – SarahB34
